Black Dice
Creature Comforts
(DFA, 2004)

Creature Comforts is my favourite Black Dice album and I’ll tell you why: it’s ridiculous. Ok, that is a petty explanation, but it’s definitely a partial one. Creature Comforts is an odd little transitory moment in the Black Dice timeline for most, but for me it is the peak of their outsider electronic powers. The textures here are thick yet measured, the compositions are playful yet everything is still slightly dangerous and the reaction is laughable yet totally and seriously entrancing. If you’re a Black Dice fan and you haven’t listened to this album for awhile, I would encourage you to try it out again and if you have never listened to the album, well, you are in for a treat.
